Williams Equestrian, owned and operated by Matthew Williams is located in Aiken, SC. Offering the highest level of hunter/jumper training to riders and equine athletes alike. Matt is a three-time Olympic veteran athlete for his home nation of Australia and regularly competes for his county at the biggest shows in North America.
Success in Every Stride
Matt grew up in Australia, training with his father. He won his first Grand Prix at age 13. He jumped his first World Cup Qualifier at 17, on a horse he had developed from a young horse. At 18 Matt moved overseas to continue his riding education working alongside some of the biggest names in the sport. In 2008, Matt jumped on his first senior team at the Beijing Olympics. In 2010, he represented Australia at the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky.
After moving to the United States in 2011, Matt qualified once again for the Olympic Games and jumped a dealing horse in London in 2012. By 2016 he had solidified his place on the Australian team and was selected again to represent his country at the Rio Olympics in 2018.
Matt has competed at the highest level of the equestrian sport, from three Olympic games and World Equestrian Games. Additionally, he has jumped on 21 Nations Cup teams on 8 different horses of varying experience and capabilities.
The Man in the Arena
As a trainer, he has vast experience training students from low level hunter/jumpers, high junior/amateur riders, Grand Prix level, through to FEI level. Matt has taken junior riders to USET finals with top 3 placings. Most recently taking a student to World Cup Finals in Omaha 2023. Matt enjoys sharing his extensive experience to help riders reach their riding and competitive goals.
Matt is married to equestrian, Abby Williams and has two future riders, Wyatt and Winnie.
